Job description
About the Company
Betway Africa operates as one of the continent’s leading sports betting and gaming brands and is part of Super Group, a digital gaming company listed on the NYSE. The business spans eight African markets and is supported by a highly engaged sports-betting audience across football, rugby, cricket, tennis and other sports.
Role Summary
As the Social Media Manager for Betway Tanzania, you will take full ownership of the market’s social media function from strategy through execution and performance review. The role covers content planning, community engagement, reactive marketing, sponsorship-led activity and cross-functional collaboration. You will shape the brand’s voice across all major platforms and work closely with Creative, Sponsorship, Digital and agency partners, while reporting to headquarters in South Africa.
What the Role Involves
This is a senior, strategic social media position rather than a simple publishing and reporting role. It calls for someone who understands that social is a constant conversation and that successful brands are the ones that respond quickly, communicate authentically and act in the moment.
- Set and continuously improve the social media strategy for Tanzania across Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and newer platforms.
- Run the full always-on content calendar, covering planned, seasonal and reactive content, and ensure delivery aligns with commercial and brand goals.
- Shape the channel-by-channel approach, including content formats, posting frequency, tone of voice and audience targeting.
- Maintain a balanced mix of proactive and reactive content, with an even split between the two.
- Build a social-first culture internally by helping stakeholders understand how social media contributes to the overall marketing mix.
- Review, brief and quality-check all social content, including campaign materials and rapid-response posts.
- Partner with creators, agencies and production teams to deliver platform-specific assets such as short-form video, graphics, carousels, stories, user-generated content and live coverage.
- Make sure all published content follows Tanzania’s responsible gambling regulations as well as brand standards.
- Lead the community management approach by setting expectations, tone-of-voice rules and escalation steps.
- Develop real connections with players, influencers and media audiences in the Betway Tanzania community.
- Track sentiment and trending conversations, then feed useful insights back to the content and brand teams.
- Handle complaints, crises and sensitive issues in a calm and policy-aligned way.
- Spot opportunities for user-generated content and encourage genuine participation from players.
- Create social-first plans for brand activations rather than simply adapting above-the-line creative for feeds.
- Own live social execution for match days and event days, including live blogs and second-screen content.
- Support influencer activity by coordinating with local talent agencies and relevant content creators.
- Work with Country Management to uncover local content ideas tied to sporting and cultural moments.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties needed to support business objectives.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate should bring strong social media leadership experience, especially within a major brand environment in Tanzania. Experience in sports, media, entertainment or betting and gaming will be especially valuable. You should have demonstrated ownership of content planning from start to finish, be comfortable working with agencies and creators, and have exposure to sponsorship activation or rights-holder social content. A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related subject is required.
Core Behavioural Expectations
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities and fast-moving social moments.
- Take responsibility for outcomes and follow through on commitments.
- Act promptly and proactively when opportunities arise.
- Stay steady and effective under pressure.
- Work well with others and contribute to team success.
- Operate with honesty and sound judgment.
- Bring fresh thinking and a willingness to try new approaches.
- Use graphic design tools and content creation capabilities effectively.
What You Can Expect
- Access to learning and development resources designed to support your growth and career progression.
- Regular, constructive performance feedback through an internal performance tool.
- Employee Assistance Programme support for you and your family.
Additional Information
Super Group promotes an inclusive working environment across its global teams and values diversity, fairness and honesty. Shortlisted applicants may be asked to complete an assessment. Because the role involves access to customer financial details, a credit check and criminal record check will be performed. Qualification verification will also be carried out. If you do not receive feedback within 2 weeks, your application should be considered unsuccessful.
The organisation describes itself as a place to work, play and grow.
