Role Overview

The Social Media Director will be a visionary leader tasked with steering the strategic growth, innovation, and operational management of the agency's social media division. This key position demands someone adept in marrying strategic insight, commercial savvy, creative direction, and operational know-how to enhance social media practices and foster agency expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and advance the agency’s social media vision, adapting to evolving consumer behavior, technology trends, and platform changes.
  • Foster a social-first culture that integrates with broader marketing and communication efforts.
  • Innovate and implement best practices across social media strategy, content creation, community engagement, and paid performance marketing.
  • Collaborate with agency leaders to identify growth opportunities and solidify client relations.
  • Serve as a senior strategic advisor to major clients by crafting long-term social media plans aligned with their business goals.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with high-level client stakeholders through strategic guidance and thought leadership.
  • Lead client presentations, workshops, and annual planning processes.
  • Support business development through compelling strategies, pitches, and capability showcases.
  • Oversee integrated social media strategies spanning ongoing activities, campaigns, influencer marketing, paid social, and emerging platforms.
  • Apply consumer insights, industry trends, and client objectives to develop effective social solutions.
  • Champion experimentation with new technologies, AI workflows, content types, and platform innovations for enhanced impact and efficiency.
  • Guide social content strategy ensuring it is creative, relevant, and platform-optimized.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Creative, Strategy, Media, Production, and Client Services for seamless campaign execution.
  • Establish governance standards and quality assurance for social content and campaigns.
  • Lead and nurture a talented team of social media strategists, managers, and specialists, promoting collaboration and inclusivity.
  • Drive talent growth through coaching, skill development, and succession planning.
  • Encourage knowledge exchange and ongoing professional development within the team.
  • Manage daily social division operations ensuring proper resource allocation, project execution, and quality control.
  • Refine workflows and processes to boost operational efficiency.
  • Work with various internal teams to ensure cohesive delivery of client projects.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to grow client partnerships and agency revenues through strategic solutions.
  • Contribute to business growth via client retention, organic expansion, and new client acquisition.
  • Assist in commercial planning including forecasting and resource management.
  • Develop and implement measurement systems to demonstrate social media’s impact on business results.
  • Lead analytics usage, social listening, and performance reviews to refine campaigns and direct future strategies.
  • Keep abreast of industry advancements, platform updates, and evolving measurement techniques.

Qualifications

  • Between 8 and 10 years of relevant experience in social media, digital marketing, or integrated communications, including leadership roles managing teams and client portfolios across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Proven track record designing and executing integrated social strategies that deliver quantifiable business results.
  • Established leadership capabilities with experience in mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong commercial insight supporting business development, client retention, and revenue growth.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management proficiency.
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to utilize performance metrics to guide decisions.
  • Practical experience with social media management and analytics tools such as Meta Ads Manager, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Sprinklr, Sprout Social, Brandwatch, or similar enterprise platforms.
  • While not required, proficiency in Korean language (oral and written) is advantageous to support Korean-speaking clients and work collaboratively with Korean teams.
