Role overview

Curaleaf International is seeking a creative and driven Social Media Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day running, delivery, and performance review of its social media communications in Sunderland. In this role, you will manage the company’s social channels, produce engaging content, and help maintain a consistent brand voice across Curaleaf UK brands. Because the business operates in a tightly regulated medical cannabis environment, the role also requires careful attention to compliance, trust-building, and patient support.

Key responsibilities

  • Keep social messaging aligned with the company’s brand standards, tone of voice, and regulatory obligations for the medical cannabis sector.
  • Plan and create platform-appropriate content that reflects audience behaviour, current trends, and feedback from customers.
  • Engage with patients and online communities, handle enquiries in a constructive manner, and look for opportunities to work with patient groups and industry organisations.
  • Use listening and analytics tools to monitor channel performance, spot trends, and report on KPIs and return on investment.
  • Collaborate with clinic and pharmacy marketing assistants to execute the agreed social media plan.
  • Keep skills and knowledge current by following changes in regulations, platform updates, and social media best practice.

Requirements

  • Strong command of Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • A degree in Marketing, Social Media, Communications, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Solid understanding of major social platforms, emerging trends, and successful methods for increasing engagement and reach.
  • Experience using scheduling and analytics platforms such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, and Canva, along with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Well-developed organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Advantageous: prior experience in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or another highly regulated environment.
  • Advantageous: awareness of budget planning and cost control.
  • Advantageous: knowledge of medical cannabis or unlicensed medicines regulations.
