Job description

Role Overview

American Eagle Outfitters is hiring a Social Media Coordinator to support the brand’s social presence from its New York office. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who is deeply connected to internet culture, follows Gen Z trends closely, and wants to grow a career in social media and brand storytelling.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Social Media, the role focuses on community engagement, channel support, reporting, and helping shape AE’s voice in culture across a range of platforms.

About the Brand

American Eagle is a denim-led youth culture brand built around self-expression, optimism, connection, and confidence. Through the Live Your Life platform, the brand aims to inspire its community to show up authentically in clothing that helps them feel their best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day engagement across AE’s social channels, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, Threads, YouTube, Snap, and others.
  • Reply to mentions, comments, tags, and user-generated content in a voice that feels clever, current, and aligned with Gen Z.
  • Share audience feedback and social insights with the wider team to support strategy.
  • Help plan, schedule, and publish content, and adapt quickly when trends or performance call for changes.
  • Support the creation of static and video content by attending in-person events and capturing in-store moments.
  • Monitor weekly performance data, call out successes and gaps, and offer suggestions to improve results.
  • Partner with Paid Social, PR, and Influencer teams to keep campaigns coordinated and execution smooth.
  • Keep a close eye on youth culture, memes, platform changes, and emerging trends to contribute ideas in brainstorms.
  • Provide occasional social coverage during important brand moments, including evenings or weekends when needed.

What You Need

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in social media, digital marketing, or content creation.
  • Working familiarity with TikTok, Instagram, and short-form video trends, along with curiosity to keep learning.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, especially the ability to write in a sharp, Gen Z-friendly tone.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage several tasks at once.
  • A collaborative mindset, a proactive approach, and enthusiasm for youth culture.
  • Comfort using PowerPoint, Excel, Google Slides, and Google Docs.
  • Nice to have: exposure to social media management tools such as Dash Hudson or Monday.com.

Perks and Benefits

  • Generous employee discount.
  • Summer Fridays.
  • Casual dress code.
  • Hybrid work schedule.
  • Company-wide events and activities.
  • Health coverage may include medical, dental, and vision benefits, depending on eligibility.
  • Other potential benefits can include wellness support, 401(k), life and disability insurance, employee stock purchase program, paid time off, paid sick leave, parental leave, and other leave benefits.
  • Discretionary bonuses and incentives may also be offered at the company’s discretion.
