Job description
About Giant Steps Australia
Giant Steps Australia is a registered charity based in Gladesville. It runs a school and an Adult Autism Services program, and is known for delivering a highly regarded program that supports profoundly autistic children and adults with complex support needs.
Why This Role Stands Out
This opportunity sits within a purpose-driven organisation where the work has a direct impact on the lives of autistic individuals and their families. The workplace offers a collaborative culture, a strong sense of community, and the chance to contribute to meaningful outcomes. Eligible employees can also access not-for-profit salary packaging, which may reduce taxable income.
Role Overview
This is a full-time onsite position in Gladesville, working as part of the fundraising and marketing team. The role calls for someone creative, energetic, and collaborative who can develop engaging social content, produce the weekly organisation newsletter, and support fundraising events and related activities.
Key Duties
- Lead the organisation’s social media presence and develop fresh content ideas on a daily basis.
- Work closely with the fundraising team and contribute positively in a fast-moving, high-energy environment.
- Attend fundraising events, school and adult services activities, and special carer days to capture content opportunities.
- Manage the content schedule and ensure posts go out on time across all relevant channels.
- Coordinate with colleagues to collect briefs and source material for events, campaigns, and marketing priorities, including promotion of professional learning courses.
- Maintain the organisation’s social media accounts with a consistent tone, look, and brand style, while monitoring comments and direct messages to support community engagement.
- Review social performance, prepare reports, and use insights to strengthen future content and campaign results.
- Look for new opportunities and channels that can help raise fundraising revenue and promote events.
- Write and distribute newsletters for the school and Adult Autism Services programs.
- Build and maintain a library of photos and videos for ongoing use.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will bring at least 2 years of social media experience and be confident working across content creation, planning, and digital engagement. You should be highly organised, comfortable managing multiple deadlines, and able to communicate clearly with a variety of audiences. A strong creative voice, analytical mindset, and self-driven approach are essential, along with the ability to work well as part of a team.
Additional Skills and Tools
Experience with WordPress, Mailchimp, and design tools such as Canva and Adobe is required. Strong written and verbal communication, solid attention to detail, and a talent for shaping stories into engaging copy are also important for success in this role.
Benefits
Employees eligible for the charity’s salary packaging arrangements can access tax-effective benefits. The position also includes 7 weeks of annual leave.
Organisation Notes
Giant Steps Australia values collaboration, practical problem-solving, and a shared commitment to making a meaningful difference for the community it serves.
