Job description

Role Overview

Software Co creates software products, AI-first platforms, and venture-backed businesses for ambitious founders and organisations across Australia. The focus is on producing content that genuinely teaches, entertains, provokes thought, and reflects the real process of building technology companies, scaling businesses, and launching products.

This opportunity is for a Social Media Content Creator Intern who lives and breathes content, understands online culture, and regularly studies what performs well across the internet. If you naturally save ideas, analyse viral clips, and enjoy making content simply because you love the craft, this role is designed for you.

What You Will Do

  • Develop, shoot, edit, and publish short-form video content across TikTok, Instagram Reels, LinkedIn, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Move ideas from concept to published content quickly, often within the same day.
  • Contribute to fast-paced brainstorming, propose content angles, test new formats, and execute ideas without long production cycles.
  • Review performance signals such as views, watch time, retention, engagement, and audience behaviour to identify what works.
  • Work closely with founders, engineers, product leaders, and operators to tell stories about entrepreneurship, software, AI, startups, and business growth.
  • Appear on camera when appropriate, if you are comfortable doing so.

What The Team Is Looking For

The ideal candidate has hands-on content creation experience and knows how to capture attention immediately. Whether your background is in growing your own account, client work, in-house roles, or freelance projects, you should be able to share examples of your work.

A portfolio is mandatory. It can include accounts you have grown, client deliverables, personal projects, freelance work, or university assignments. If any of your content has performed exceptionally well or gone viral, that is especially welcome.

You should also be comfortable with fast-paced, social-first editing. The specific software is flexible; tools such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar platforms are all acceptable, as long as the output is polished and turnaround is fast.

The role suits someone who is deeply engaged with social media and content creation, keeps up with emerging trends, viral formats, platform changes, creator tactics, and broader internet culture, and learns because they enjoy it.

Strong communication skills are important, along with the ability to collaborate well and respond constructively to feedback in a dynamic environment. Native or professional-level English is required.

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Background working in an agency.
  • Experience creating content for more than one industry or niche.
  • Exposure to influencer marketing.
  • Experience with paid social advertising.
  • Familiarity with managing creator partnerships.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Direct exposure to founders and senior leaders.
  • The chance to create content that reaches real audiences.
  • Hands-on experience across startups, software, AI, and venture building.
  • Opportunity to build a strong portfolio through meaningful work.
  • Faster learning than a conventional marketing internship.
  • Possible progression into part-time or full-time work later on.

Who This Role Suits

  • Students studying marketing, media, communications, or business.
  • Recent graduates who want to enter content creation.
  • Freelance creators seeking commercial experience.
  • Anyone who genuinely enjoys making content and wants to improve quickly.

Application Notes

Applicants should include a portfolio link, social accounts they have managed or grown, examples of their strongest work, and a short note explaining why they want to join Software Co. Extra credit is given to candidates who have grown a TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or LinkedIn account to more than 10,000 followers.

Compensation

This internship is paid, though the exact amount was not specified.
