Job description

About OUAI

OUAI is a premium beauty and personal care brand created by celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin. The name means “yes” in a relaxed Parisian way, and that upbeat, playful attitude shapes the company’s culture, marketing, and products. OUAI offers hair care, body care, fragrance, personal care, and merchandise designed to make self-care simple, effective, and enjoyable.

Since launch, the brand has grown across direct-to-consumer channels, specialty beauty retailers, and global distribution partners. It continues to enter new markets, strengthen customer loyalty, and scale an international business model built on high margins. OUAI is known for its direct approach to beauty, signature scent profile, and products that meet lifestyle-based needs. Its formulas are made without sulfates or parabens, reflecting a focus on quality and performance.

The company’s culture is fun, purposeful, and approachable, and it follows five culture codes: leading with initiative, collaborating instead of competing, asking questions to find the best answers, being real in a kind way, and bringing full energy to both work and play.

Role Overview

OUAI is looking for a Social Media Content Creator who can produce compelling content that increases awareness and builds brand love for the company and its products. The role places heavy emphasis on video content, especially TikTok-focused work, while also including lo-fi still imagery. You will partner with the social team to support cross-functional goals and create content aligned with brand, creative, and marketing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Create original, engaging short-form content for TikTok and Instagram that reflects the brand’s identity, tone, and objectives.
  • Monitor trends, challenges, and cultural moments across TikTok, social media, and the wider internet, then incorporate timely ideas into the content plan.
  • Work closely with the social team to stay aligned with the editorial calendar, campaign goals, and messaging, and translate those into strong visual stories.
  • Handle the full video production process, including shooting, selecting clips, editing or preparing editor briefs, and shaping sound design and direction to produce polished content that drives awareness and engagement.
  • Capture content in the office, on set, and on location each week.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners such as Product Development and Product Education to create behind-the-scenes packaging content or product application videos.
  • Test different video formats, styles, and techniques to keep the content fresh and appealing to varied audiences.
  • Review performance metrics and audience insights, then adjust content direction to improve engagement and growth.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience creating social media content, with a strong focus on TikTok and video.
  • Ability to work from the Los Angeles office regularly, with in-office presence expected 2 to 3 times per week.
  • A creative, first-mover mindset and the ability to bring new ideas to a social-first lifestyle brand that goes beyond standard hair care content.
  • A proven background in social content creation, especially for TikTok and video formats.
  • Comfort appearing on camera and being featured in behind-the-scenes social content.
  • Strong visual judgment and storytelling ability, plus attention to detail and the skill to grab attention quickly.
  • Understanding of what makes content perform well, including adapting point of view for new audiences, engaging the existing community, and using best practices such as cover images, on-screen text, and video length.
  • Experience using third-party editing apps as part of the content creation workflow.
  • Immigration sponsorship is not available for this role, except in rare cases where the company decides a highly specialized background is required in certain areas.

Compensation and Terms

This role pays $35 per hour.

Candidates must be available to work onsite at OUAI’s Los Angeles headquarters 2 to 3 times per week.

This is a freelance, part-time position and does not include full-time benefits.

Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position, except in limited situations at the company’s sole discretion.

Brand Culture

OUAI operates with five guiding culture codes: take the lead without hesitation, collaborate rather than compete, ask questions to uncover the best answers, stay honest while remaining kind, and commit fully to both work and play.

Leave it if you'd like a reply — we won't use it for anything else.
