Job description
About Zato
Zato is an agentic AI platform created for accounting firms in New Zealand and Australia. The company is growing quickly, with tens of thousands of ledgers already live, and is building the operating system that more firms will use to run their work. The brand story is still largely untold, and this role is meant to help bring it to life.
Role overview
This is a hands-on content creation position focused on building Zato’s social presence from scratch and shaping a distinctive brand voice. It is a making role rather than a coordinating role: you will plan, write, film, edit and publish content yourself. LinkedIn will be the primary platform, with Instagram, TikTok, X and potentially other channels also part of the mix.
What you will do
- Take full ownership of the company’s day-to-day social content across LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, X and any other platforms selected for growth.
- Create content directly, including visuals, copy and short-form video, from concept through to final publishing.
- Transform whitepapers, product summaries, customer insights and case studies into engaging content that can be shared widely.
- Develop repeatable content series around AI, accounting, automation and growth for firms.
- Craft hooks and captions that feel natural, clear and conversational rather than overly corporate.
- Help grow an audience that includes the accounting firms the business sells to.
- Continuously improve the quality, originality and impact of the brand’s content in its category.
How you will work
You will collaborate closely with the CEO, product team and client-facing teams to turn product news, client wins, whitepapers, insights and behind-the-scenes moments into posts that people actually want to view, read and share. The work may also involve filming founder-led content, turning product updates into Reels, converting written materials into LinkedIn posts and carousels, and capturing events locally and internationally.
About you
The ideal candidate is a true maker whose portfolio, social presence and actual work are more important than a traditional CV. You should have strong creative judgment, a modern visual style and an ability to produce work that feels current, deliberate and non-generic. You need to be able to write in a human voice, simplify technical topics and independently shoot and edit short-form video using tools such as CapCut, Canva, Figma, Adobe or similar software. Speed, initiative and curiosity are important, along with enough interest in startups, AI and business to quickly understand the product and make it resonate. Prior experience managing and growing social media accounts is also expected.
What you get
- Ownership of Zato’s social presence during a significant growth phase.
- Direct access to the CEO, product, clients and events.
- A budget for freelance editing and production support so you are not held back by bottlenecks.
- Opportunities to travel.
- Competitive compensation.
Application instructions
Applicants are asked to email the team with two short lines explaining why they want the role, a link to their portfolio or social accounts, and an example of one brand, founder or company that they believe does social media particularly well, along with the reason why.
