About the Organization

The New York City Master Chorale is dedicated to uniting individuals through choral music by performing concerts of exceptional quality. The Chorale aims to engage audiences across all ages and backgrounds by offering innovative programming featuring diverse repertoires, including newly commissioned works and partnerships with like-minded artists and organizations. Additionally, it brings music directly into the community through outreach and educational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, capture, and share engaging social media content, including Instagram Reels and Stories.
  • Monitor and incorporate trending and culturally relevant content promptly.
  • Edit short videos with compelling storytelling that aligns with brand identity and audience interests.
  • Assist in the development and management of content calendars.
  • Compose language for social media posts and email newsletters.
  • Support the marketing strategy and promotion of Chorale events.
  • Identify partnership opportunities with emerging local creators and peer organizations.
  • Attend select Chorale events and rehearsals in person to generate content. This includes occasional Wednesday evening rehearsals in Midtown Manhattan, 2-3 concerts per season, and other events around the NYC metropolitan area.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and responsive individual comfortable with relevant technology tools.
  • A genuine appreciation for performing arts and small community-focused non-profits.
  • Passion for producing authentic content and enhancing brand voice and identity.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience creating and managing content for brands, nonprofits, or personal platforms.
  • Proficient understanding of Instagram and other social media channels.
  • Experience with MailChimp and Squarespace is advantageous.
  • Strong independent content creation and social media editing skills.
  • Keen storytelling ability and commitment to the performing arts sector.
  • Flexibility to attend in-person rehearsals and major events when needed.
  • Willingness to travel within the NYC metro and tri-state region with prior notice.

Compensation and Terms

This role is a contract position compensated at $2,000 per season, covering mid-August through mid-May, averaging approximately 3 hours of work per week over a 9-month contract period. Payment will be processed by direct bank transfer, and a 1099 tax form will be issued at year's end.
