About Tempe Tourism Office
The Tempe Tourism Office is a nonprofit 501(c)(6) organization dedicated to promoting Tempe, Arizona, as a premier destination for meetings and leisure travel. Supported primarily by city and county hotel tax revenue, the organization manages an annual budget of $4.1 million and employs 11 staff members alongside 19 board members. Position Overview
The Social Media and Content Manager plays a crucial role within the Communications Department. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this position oversees the planning, execution, and management of Tempe Tourism Office's social media channels and all public-facing content. Collaboration with marketing and sales teams is key to positioning Tempe as a favored travel locality.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage social media content calendars synchronizing with Communications and Marketing efforts.
- Devise and implement effective social media strategies and campaigns to boost destination recognition.
- Establish and nurture new and existing social networks, keeping pace with evolving platforms and algorithms.
- Monitor online interactions regarding Tempe Tourism, promptly addressing inquiries and comments, including occasional weekend responsiveness.
- Identify and adopt new social media trends and best practices to enhance outreach.
- Drive growth in follower base and engagement, directing traffic to Tempe Tourism's website.
- Lead the management of influencer collaborations encompassing vetting, budgeting, contracting, and reporting responsibilities.
- Demonstrate proficiency in platforms like Sprout Social, Canva, CapCut, and Meta dashboards.
- Organize influencer visits including budgeting, contracts, logistics, and accompany them during familiarization tours when required.
- Analyze social media data consistently and prepare monthly and annual performance reports.
- Manage paid social media advertising budgets and review campaign performance for optimization.
- Assist in digital asset management through CrowdRiff and support multimedia content production such as photography and videography, with art direction and scheduling.
- Produce engaging written and visual content across various print and digital platforms, such as contests, campaigns, blogs, adverts, and website copy.
- Ensure brand consistency across all publicly visible assets.
- Lead the execution of the annual Content Creator Appreciation Event for the Communications Department.
- Foster relationships and partnerships within the industry and local business community proactively.
- Represent the office professionally at community events, media functions, trade shows, and conferences.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in social media management, short-form video production, marketing, or visual communications.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Ability to deliver creative multimedia content within deadlines.
- Experience with social media management tools such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, HubSpot, or ASANA.
- Proficiency with digital asset management systems, Google Drive, and Dropbox.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Familiarity with SEO principles, keyword research, and Google Analytics.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and social listening skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects effectively and manage social media budgets.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The role operates primarily in a professional office environment emphasizing equity and inclusion. While mainly sedentary, tasks may occasionally require lifting objects up to 20 pounds and standing on stools. Flexibility is necessary to accommodate remote working, after-hours attendance at events, weekend work during tours and shoots, and occasional out-of-town travel. Use of a personal vehicle for business purposes is required.
Additional Information
Compensation is commensurate with experience, ranging between $68,000 and $72,000 annually. Benefits include healthcare with minimal employee contribution, retirement plans, vacation, parking, paid national holidays, personal and sick leave after a probation period, and mileage reimbursement. Note that relocation assistance is not provided.
