Social Care Worker – Adult Disability

Role overview

This position is for a Social Care Worker supporting adults with disabilities in a residential service in Kildare. The work is centered on person-led care that helps each individual build confidence, independence, social connection, and practical everyday skills.

The role involves a mix of direct support, care duties, and guided activities. You will help create a safe and supportive home-style environment where residents can participate in daily routines, develop skills, and work toward their personal goals.

What you will do

• Offer regular day-to-day support to people living in residential and/or day service settings.
• Assist with personal care, routine daily tasks, and emotional reassurance where needed.
• Encourage dignity, independence, and personal choice in all aspects of support.
• Prepare and lead structured learning, leisure, and life-skills activities.
• Support the growth of social, communication, work-related, and personal abilities.
• Adjust activities to suit individual needs, preferences, and capability levels.
• Promote participation in community activities, trips, and educational experiences.
• Encourage involvement in hobbies, sport, arts, and vocational programmes.
• Maintain an environment that is safe, welcoming, inclusive, and engaging.
• Work in a therapeutic, home-like setting while supporting residents with daily routines.
• Help with meal preparation, household duties, and community integration.
• Provide reliable support across all rostered shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleepovers when required.

Requirements

• A Level 7 qualification in Social Care, or another recognised equivalent.
• Previous experience in disability services, day services, or residential care.
• Working knowledge of HIQA standards and person-centred approaches.
• A full clean driving licence plus access to your own vehicle.
• Permission to work in Ireland.
• CORU registration, or active progress toward registration.

Pay and benefits

The salary scale runs from point 1 at €39,088 to point 12 at €56,349 per year.
