Role Summary
The Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst at IFZA will be tasked with safeguarding the company's information systems by identifying, assessing, and mitigating security threats. This position involves continuous monitoring, analysis, and response to security incidents while implementing defensive measures to ensure adherence to industry regulations and best practices. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a proactive mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and strong technical and analytical capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) dashboards, such as Microsoft Sentinel, and security alerts in real-time.
- Analyze events generated by security tools like Microsoft Defender to detect suspicious activities, anomalies, or breaches of policy.
- Perform preliminary investigations of alerts to classify them as false or true positives.
- Gather and analyze logs, event data, reputation intelligence, and indicators of compromise.
- Escalate confirmed or critical security incidents to higher-tier analysts (L2/L3) with thorough documentation.
- Initiate prescribed response actions including isolating devices, enforcing password resets, and blocking unauthorized IP addresses.
- Validate IOC (Indicators of Compromise) against threat intelligence databases.
- Investigate phishing attempts, malware infections, malicious URLs or attachments, credential theft, and unauthorized network access.
- Identify patterns and trends in security alerts to facilitate early detection of threats.
- Document all incident tickets, investigation notes, and conduct root cause analysis, proposing remediation procedures.
- Maintain accurate timelines and updates in the incident ticketing system.
- Produce reports detailing recurring or emerging security issues.
- Collaborate closely with the Security Team and internal IT departments to ensure cohesive security operations.
- Communicate effectively with staff to verify suspicious activities or login attempts.
- Adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to the enhancement of security processes.
- Lead security awareness training initiatives to educate employees on best practices including password management and phishing prevention.
- Develop and distribute informative materials regarding new and evolving cyber threats.
- Stay current with the latest cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and attack methodologies by analyzing threat intelligence reports to fortify the organization's security posture.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 5 to 7 years of overall experience in SOC operations.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in SOC, blue team activities, or security engineering roles.
- Proven competence with Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, incident management, and recovery from security breaches.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, and a deep understanding of Windows and Linux system internals.
- Experience with security features in cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
- Ability to write scripts for automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK framework and threat-hunting methodologies.
- Desirable certifications include CompTIA Security+, Microsoft SC-200, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CCNA, or CCNP Security.
