Role Overview
The Small Business Specialist position is focused on delivering exceptional service tailored to the financial needs of business and agricultural customers. This includes understanding individual customer requirements, following a structured service approach, and proposing customized financial products. When credit needs arise, the specialist will connect clients with Relationship Managers or Business Lending Specialists. Retaining customers through proactive activities such as term deposit renewals, business progress check-ins, and encouraging use of preferred servicing channels is essential. Customer engagement occurs via phone, email, and outbound calls, ensuring high-quality interaction standards are met consistently.
Key Details
- Start date: Monday 19 October 2026
- Training period: 10 days from start date, Monday to Friday, approximately 8:30am to 4:30pm, 7.5 hours daily, 37.5 hours weekly
- Working hours: either Tuesday to Saturday or Monday to Friday shifts, starting between 8:00am and 10:00am on weekdays, with fixed 9:00am to 5:00pm on Saturdays
- Location options include Auckland, Wellington, Whangarei, Hamilton, and Tauranga; flexible work requires at least 50% onsite presence at corporate offices
Daily Responsibilities
- Assist new entrepreneurs in establishing their businesses by providing banking solutions and access to market insights
- Deliver superior customer service through virtual communication channels, including phone, email, and online platforms
- Manage inbound calls, respond to emails, and initiate outreach with business clients to support their banking needs
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships by making interactions straightforward, efficient, and accurate
- Promote customer loyalty by actively managing term deposit rollovers, conducting business check-ins, and encouraging usage of preferred channels
- Demonstrate ANZ's core values consistently in engagements with customers and colleagues
Candidate Profile
- Experience in personal lending with a background in banking, financial services, insurance, lending, or similarly regulated customer service roles
- Commitment to exemplary customer service with ownership of queries through to resolution and delivering positive results
- Interest in understanding business customers and structures, alongside motivation to develop relevant business expertise
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of establishing trust with clients and internal teams
- Competency in utilizing multiple systems, processes, and communication methods while balancing service, risk, and compliance demands
- Effective organizational and problem-solving abilities, resilient and adaptable to manage competing priorities in a dynamic work environment
