About the team
The University of Otago, Wellington supports health research and teaching in New Zealand’s capital. The campus works closely with district health boards, local health service providers, government agencies including the Ministry of Health and Wellington City Council, as well as tertiary institutions such as Massey University and Victoria University. It also maintains strong connections with local iwi.
Role overview
As a Sleep Technician, you will deliver technical assistance to the WellSleep Centre across home sleep testing, therapy commencement, and related operational tasks.
Key duties
- Fit sleep monitoring devices to patients and explain how to use them correctly.
- Begin PAP therapy for outpatients and provide follow-up support.
- Prepare sleep equipment, including stock management and setup.
- Handle other connected duties such as patient booking and report completion.
Skills and experience
The ideal applicant will bring strong communication abilities and be comfortable working with people from varied backgrounds. You should have customer service experience, a proven collaborative approach, strong computer literacy, and either technical knowledge of monitoring equipment or the ability to learn it quickly. Logical thinking, problem-solving ability, interest in health service delivery, and experience in a healthcare, clinical, or patient-facing setting are all important.
Employment details
This is a permanent full-time role of 37.5 hours per week, based at Bowen Hospital in Wellington. Work is scheduled through a заранее planned roster and may include day, evening, or night shifts.
Pay and conditions
The salary band for this position is NZD 63,508 to NZD 68,185 per year, with the top of the range at NZD 73,640 per year.
