Role overview
BMD Group is hiring a Skilled Labourer for the Darwin Ship Lift Facility project in Darwin, Northern Territory. This is a local, site-based role with a 21:7 roster, offering a competitive base rate together with penalties and site allowances. The position is designed so you return home each night.
Project details
Clough Projects and BMD Construction (CBJV) are working together to deliver the Darwin Ship Lift Facility for the Northern Territory Government. The project is expected to become the largest ship lift in Northern Australia and will support maintenance work for the Department of Defence, the Australian Border Force, and the wider maritime industry, while also contributing to local employment and economic growth.
What the role involves
The team is looking for Skilled Labourers and Trade Assistants to support civil and metal trade construction activities at the East Arm precinct, Port of Darwin. The work environment includes a range of practical site tasks across construction and infrastructure works.
- Welding and fabrication support
- Coating repair work
- Installation of underground drainage and earthworks
- Forklift operation
- General labouring duties on site
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will have relevant hands-on experience in civil or metal trade construction, a strong focus on safety, and the ability to work well with others as well as independently. The role also calls for someone who can read plans accurately and maintain attention to detail in a busy project setting.
Additional requirements and preferred qualifications
- Certificate III in Civil Construction is preferred
- HR or MC licence is preferred
- EWP, Working at Heights, and Forklift operator licences are preferred
- Current driver’s licence is required
- Current Dogman ticket is preferred
- Current Construction Blue or White Card is required
- Ability to read and interpret plans
- Strong commitment to safe work practices
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work on your own when needed
