Role overview
BAM UK & Ireland is looking for a Site Technician to support its facilities management team at Tudor Grange St James Academy in Solihull. This role sits within the FM function and involves delivering planned and reactive maintenance across the site.
The working schedule is yet to be finalised. The position offers an hourly pay rate of £13.50.
What the role involves
The technician will handle a mix of planned preventative maintenance, urgent repairs, and general site support tasks while working in line with BAM FM policies on HR, health and safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Handle day-to-day requests and issues raised by authority representatives, building users, and other BAM FM colleagues.
- Take a proactive, adaptable approach to general maintenance and porterage work.
- Help maintain strong customer satisfaction by responding quickly and completing tasks efficiently.
- Support the planning and delivery of routine maintenance programmes.
- Provide the details needed to order spare parts and consumables through the helpdesk.
- Keep spare parts, tools, materials, and consumables stored safely and securely.
- Make sure maintenance issues reported by others are acted on promptly.
- Offer technical assistance to colleagues when needed.
- Follow health and safety procedures, including those applicable to external contractors.
- Prepare risk assessments and method statements as required.
- Carry out daily room set-ups and porterage requests.
- Operate the BMS system and produce monthly reports.
- Provide emergency access to the school site and support maintenance emergencies outside normal hours.
- Undertake additional duties as reasonably required.
What BAM is looking for
Applicants should bring practical experience in at least one trade area, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The role also calls for good initiative, clear communication, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work to deadlines, and solid IT capability. A full driving licence is required. Experience in an educational setting would be an advantage.
