Job description
The opportunity
This position is for an Operations Team Leader / Site Services Supervisor at a biopharmaceutical manufacturing site in Limerick. The role supports onsite inventory management and laboratory support services, with direct responsibility for guiding a team of Material Handlers and ensuring daily work is delivered safely, accurately, and in line with GMP expectations.
You will report to the Site Services Manager and work alongside onsite colleagues and customer contacts to keep services running smoothly. The position blends people leadership, operational planning, and customer-facing coordination, making it a strong fit for someone who enjoys leading a frontline team in a structured, process-led setting.
Core responsibilities
Daily work will include supervising Material Handlers, assigning and prioritising tasks, tracking completion, and making sure service requirements are met on time. You will help build a strong team culture by encouraging accountability, collaboration, and high performance, while also supporting onboarding, training, coaching, and performance-related activities together with the Site Services Manager.
The role also involves coordinating inventory management, stockroom, and VMI activities across manufacturing and laboratory areas. You will help ensure replenishment schedules are followed, workload is balanced appropriately, and inventory practices such as stock rotation, expiry control, and material availability are maintained. You may also assist with KPI tracking, reporting, and issue resolution.
Compliance is a key part of the role. You will be expected to ensure all activities follow GMP rules, site procedures, and EHS standards. This includes keeping accurate documentation, supporting audit readiness, taking part in inspections where needed, maintaining team training records, and reinforcing SOPs and work instructions. The expectation is to promote quality, compliance, and right-first-time execution at all times.
In addition, you will serve as a day-to-day point of contact for operational matters, maintaining effective working relationships with customer stakeholders and internal teams. You will communicate risks, delays, or service issues professionally and in a timely manner, participate in regular review meetings, and look for ways to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction. A further part of the role is contributing to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen operational excellence.
Experience and background
The ideal candidate will bring prior experience in a supervisor, team lead, or senior operational position, along with a proven ability to direct a frontline team. You should have experience allocating work, setting priorities, and monitoring progress in a structured environment where accountability and documentation matter.
Experience in inventory management, materials handling, stock control, laboratory support, or manufacturing support is desirable. Background in GMP, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, manufacturing, or another regulated setting would be an advantage. Experience working with KPIs, service measures, audits, inspections, or quality systems is also preferred.
Skills and competencies
This role calls for strong leadership, planning, and coordination skills, together with clear communication and good interpersonal ability. You should be comfortable balancing competing priorities in a busy environment, have a sharp eye for detail, and be able to solve problems and make decisions effectively. Strong computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office and operational systems, is important.

The environment is collaborative and places a strong emphasis on safety, quality, service, and continuous improvement.
