Job description

Job overview

Landmarc Support Services is hiring a Site Operative to join its team at a military training estate site. The role focuses on keeping accommodation, buildings, and outdoor areas clean, well maintained, and safe for Armed Forces personnel using the facilities during training.

This position is ideal for someone with a practical mindset and a strong can-do attitude. No prior experience is required, as training and support are provided.

Working pattern and contract

The role is permanent and includes 37 hours of work each week. Shifts run Monday through Sunday between 08:00 and 16:00.

An annual allowance of £1,127.50 is payable for weekend working.

Location: Nesscliff Camp, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY4 1BH.

Interviews are scheduled for Tuesday 30th June. Interview-related messages will be sent by email, so applicants should monitor their inbox and spam/junk folders regularly.

Main duties

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness across the camp and ensure the site remains suitable for use.
  • Clean offices, shared facilities, and accommodation areas, including washrooms and shower blocks.
  • Carry out routine cleaning work such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.
  • Support general upkeep of buildings and structures.
  • Assist with basic grounds maintenance activities.
  • Handle stock control and related checks.
  • Complete records and paperwork using both digital and paper-based systems.
  • Take on other reasonable tasks as required.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant will bring general caretaking or housekeeping knowledge, along with an understanding of COSHH and health and safety practices. Strong communication skills are important, as is the ability to complete documentation accurately.

Basic IT confidence is needed, including the ability to use a tablet. Because the site is in a rural location, a valid UK driving licence is essential.

Benefits

Landmarc offers a package of benefits designed to support financial security, wellbeing, and career development.

  • Company stakeholder pension with employer contributions of up to 8% of salary.
  • 25 days of annual leave pro rata, plus public holidays.
  • Holiday entitlement increases with length of service.
  • Option to buy up to 10 extra days of leave each year.
  • Reward Gateway discount scheme for savings and offers.
  • Annual salary review carried out in consultation with recognised Trade Unions.
  • Life assurance cover equal to three times annual salary.
  • Health cash plan, with the option to add up to four children under 24.
  • Payment or reimbursement of professional fees and support for continued training.
  • Family-friendly policies.
  • Sick pay available after 6 months of service.
