Role Overview
This permanent opportunity is based at the Waterford site, where the Site Microbiologist will oversee the microbiology laboratory operations. The role includes developing and implementing the microbiology strategy aligning with operational and quality standards at Teva Waterford. The successful candidate will lead the microbiology team, evaluate departmental achievements, and function as the primary contact for microbiology matters across the site. Please note that relocation assistance is not provided for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Address all microbiology-related inquiries and investigations across the Waterford facility.
- Communicate with senior management regarding microbiology team concerns and updates.
- Initiate, plan, and execute new projects and systems to enhance microbiology operations consistently.
- Serve as the definitive expert on microbiological matters at the site.
- Promote and support the Contamination Control Strategy in line with Annex 1 requirements.
- Develop and provide ongoing training for microbiology analysts, ensuring high professional standards.
- Deliver exceptional internal and external customer service adhering to quality benchmarks, company best practices, and cost-efficiency.
- Ensure all production batches are prepared on schedule through effective operational oversight.
- Implement and maintain GMP-compliant, economical laboratory systems adhering to TEVA, cGMP, Health and Safety, and environmental guidelines.
- Prepare the micro team rigorously for all audits and regulatory inspections.
Candidate Profile
- A minimum of a third-level qualification in Microbiology is essential.
- Proven extensive management experience in a high-volume pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory setting.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory microbiological methods per USP, Ph.Eur, JP standards, including method development and verification to ensure compliance.
- Strong grasp of microbiological techniques used within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience with steam sterilization processes and microbiological media preparation.
- Familiarity with environmental control strategies, routine microbial monitoring, and method validations.
- Understanding of bioburden, microbial contamination control, and risks specific to non-sterile inhalation products.
- Knowledge about purified water systems and microbial control procedures.
- Expertise in microbial identification methodologies.
- Acquainted with contamination control strategies and compliance with Annex 1 regulatory requirements.
