About the role
Greenstar is hiring a dependable, hands-on Site Cleaner to help maintain a tidy, safe, and well-kept site in Barkston, England. The position supports daily operations by handling cleaning duties across the facility, clearing waste, following assigned cleaning plans, and contributing to a safe working environment.
This role is best suited to someone who is practical, physically capable, attentive to safety, and comfortable working in an active operational setting.
What you will do
- Remove waste, litter, and debris from assigned areas by sweeping, shovelling, and clearing the site.
- Complete regular cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, and sanitising as needed.
- Work to cleaning schedules in order to reduce disruption and downtime.
- Use hand tools and cleaning equipment properly and safely.
- Collect waste and dispose of it according to site rules and procedures.
- Help with the cleaning and basic maintenance of waste-handling equipment and machinery.
- Escalate any safety issues, incidents, cleaning problems, or maintenance needs to a supervisor.
- Keep the site clean and hygienic to a good standard at all times.
- Maintain simple records of cleaning work when requested.
- Operate mobile plant only if trained, authorised, and required to do so.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks assigned by the company.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is reliable, turns up on time, and is comfortable with manual work. The ideal candidate should be physically fit, able to work at heights when necessary, and willing to receive harness training.
You should understand and follow site safety rules, cleaning instructions, and operational procedures. Confidence with hand tools and cleaning equipment, attention to detail, and a strong sense of responsibility for cleanliness and safety are important. The role also requires someone who can work well independently as well as part of a team.
Experience and useful background
- Experience in cleaning, waste management, recycling, industrial, or other operational environments would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of lock-off procedures and the ability to complete a lock-off form would be helpful.
- Previous work at height or using harness equipment is desirable.
- Bobcat experience is useful, although not essential because training may be provided where needed.
