Overview
Qatar Duty Free seeks a Shop Supervisor to assist the Duty Manager with coordinating daily operations on the shop floor. This role emphasizes increasing sales, ensuring high-quality customer service, and managing effective merchandising within the shop environment. The Shop Supervisor is responsible for staff allocation, performing cash handling spot checks, stock verification, shift closing activities, and resolving customer issues. Driving team motivation and leadership to achieve daily sales targets is a vital part of the role.
Situated at Hamad International Airport, Qatar Duty Free is a premier retail destination hosting over 90 boutiques and more than 30 dining venues spread over 40,000 square meters.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Duty Manager by overseeing daily shop operations including staff scheduling, cash management, and inventory control to optimize sales and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Monitor stock levels and address discrepancies with the relevant departments to maintain inventory accuracy and capitalize on sales opportunities.
- Assist in managing shift priorities to ensure timely completion of tasks and smooth workflow.
- Conduct routine spot checks on cash handling and sales transactions to uphold company standards of integrity.
- Provide on-the-job training to new sales team members to enhance customer service and product knowledge.
- Manage shift handovers involving briefing on daily objectives, store conditions, sales performance, and team coverage.
- Execute proper store closing procedures in line with company policies relating to cash registers, stock arrangements, merchandising, and visual displays.
- Handle returns and void transactions following established Standard Operating Procedures.
- Authorize staff discounts while enforcing monthly purchase limits and ensuring consistent application across employees.
- Address guest feedback and complaints positively, escalating serious concerns to managers for future improvements.
- Communicate details of special promotions and new launches to the sales team through pre-shift briefings to ensure preparedness and product awareness.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum high school diploma.
- At least three years of relevant experience in retail or a similar customer service role.
- Proven ability to manage stock control on a daily basis with direct experience in inventory management.
- Skilled in resolving complex issues and negotiations.
- Prior experience in the travel retail sector is preferred.
