Shop Operator - Rotor Repairs

Role Overview

Are you passionate about working with mechanical equipment and ensuring high standards in the servicing and production of rotating machines? Join our Industrial & Energy Technology production team focused on delivering top-tier products that support energy extraction and processing. This role involves operating and overseeing various machinery essential to manufacturing and service operations under supervision, maintaining quality according to engineering and ISO standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair rotor components for centrifugal compressors, centrifugal pumps, gas turbine rotors, and gear shafts.
• Perform diverse inspections including visual, geometrical, and non-destructive testing; document results meticulously as per specifications and data sheets.
• Manage quality control processes by evaluating parts post-operation and recording outcomes systematically.
• Apply prescribed preservation techniques to finished products.
• Identify and report health, safety, and environmental concerns to meet established targets.
• Execute preventive maintenance on machine tools and complete daily maintenance checklists.
• Assess fixtures and tooling for performance and structural integrity; evaluate new fixture designs and clamping approaches.
• Conduct housekeeping and 6S activities on machines and workstations, contributing to lean manufacturing improvements and project implementations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Completion of High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification along with practical expertise in operating mechanical machinery.
• Proven knowledge in inspecting, repairing, balancing, and testing of centrifugal compressors and pumps.
• Over 5 years’ experience specifically in repairing rotating equipment including compressors, pumps, and gearboxes.
• At least 10 years working in manufacturing or service shop environments.
• Practiced in rotor de-stacking and stacking techniques for compressor and pump rotors; experience with gas turbine rotor disk assembly preferred.
• Ability to perform total run out testing effectively.
• Skilled in operating manual or CNC lathe machines, as well as low-speed horizontal and vertical balancing machines to remove residual unbalance.
• Experience in machining processes considered an advantage.
• Willingness and flexibility to work morning shifts initially with potential for 2-3 shift patterns and overtime.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to further develop hands-on skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Working Conditions

Standard working hours apply, with flexible patterns to accommodate personal work preferences. The role is onsite based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
