Role Summary

This position is designed to provide broad support across production line operations, working under daily supervision and helping keep the mill running smoothly.

Key Duties

• Support housekeeping tasks in assigned areas of the facility as directed by the shift supervisor.
• Maintain sawline housekeeping at least twice during each shift.
• Handle housekeeping duties for the press pit on night shift.
• Assist in regrading, paint booth, strapper, and sawline operations when directed.
• Operate mobile equipment, power tools, and hand tools to process waste and recover usable material, including bark for the bark burner and processed wood from the dryer area.
• Check equipment daily to confirm it is functioning correctly and consistently.
• Relieve sawline, strapper, and forklift operators when needed.
• Receive cross-training in other mill positions to help meet production coverage needs.
• Help reduce unplanned downtime by clearing airlocks, cleaning the woodburner, and handling similar tasks.
• Carry out basic and light preventive maintenance work.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations at all times.

Skills and Qualifications

Successful candidates should be able to manage time well, understand line-position duties, know general plant cleanup and utility work, and read and follow safety rules and regulations.

Experience and Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. At least 3 months of related experience is required, though a similar mix of education and experience that shows the ability to perform the job may also be accepted.

Work Environment

This role is based in a plant setting where exposure to sawdust, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and other harsh conditions should be expected.

Schedule

Shift hours are 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on a 4 days on / 4 days off rotation.
