Job description
Role Overview
As a Shift Lead at Walgreens in Athens, AL, you will be entrusted with opening and closing the store in the absence of management, managing cash handling, preparing the store floor and stockroom for the business day, and ensuring smooth store operations including opening back doors for deliveries.
Customer Experience
- Greet customers and patients warmly, offering help with products and services to enhance satisfaction.
- Resolve customer queries and issues to maintain a positive shopping environment.
- Demonstrate and encourage team members to adopt superior customer service habits, such as clear communication, professionalism, and proactive assistance.
Operational Responsibilities
- Securely hold and manage store keys to open and close the premises as needed without direct management.
- Support and coach colleagues in inventory ordering and receiving processes, including vendor deliveries.
- Handle sales registration at cash registers accurately, documenting scanning errors, price verifications, and transaction modifications.
- Assist store managers in reviewing order discrepancies and reverse logistics tasks such as returns.
- Help evaluate and set up store displays including promotional and seasonal merchandise as well as completing resets and revisions.
- Maintain precise inventory tracking and manage stockroom accuracy.
- Oversee compliance with the Outdate program on consumable products through team member collaboration.
- Implement daily pricing adjustments including signage, ensuring adherence to local regulatory pricing requirements.
- Aid in bookkeeping duties including cash reports, counts, ledgers, and bill payments when requested.
- Contribute to maintaining the store's clean and orderly environment, and coordinate repair requests in the absence of management.
- Assist in maintaining proper product segregation and stock rotation practices, emphasizing food safety standards.
- Operate and maintain familiarity with store systems and equipment.
- Provide assistance at the pharmacy window when requested.
- Ensure adherence to legal requirements for regulated products like tobacco and alcohol.
- Conduct bag checks of employees before they leave the store to maintain compliance.
- Follow all company policies and uphold respectful interactions with coworkers.
- Carry out additional tasks or special assignments as assigned by management.
Training and Development
- Participate in ongoing training and complete PPLs as requested by the manager.
Communication Duties
- Act as an intermediary between management and team members by relaying assigned tasks in management's absence.
- Report any disciplinary issues and customer complaints to store management promptly.
Qualifications
- At least one year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder experience is required.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is mandatory (except for Puerto Rico).
- Preference given to candidates with knowledge of store inventory control.
- Applicants with arrest or conviction records are considered for employment.
- Must obtain and maintain valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as needed per state regulations.
