Role overview
This contract position is for a Sherpa language expert who will work remotely and contribute between 10 and 40 hours each week. The role centers on high-accuracy transcription, linguistic review, and language analysis for video-based content.
Key responsibilities
- Produce time-synced transcripts for Sherpa-language video content with careful attention to timestamp alignment.
- Interpret and capture speaker emotion, intent, and tonal nuance while transcribing.
- Review, edit, and polish transcript outputs to improve grammatical and linguistic accuracy.
- Research the meanings of Sherpa words and expressions and clarify conceptual usage.
- Examine grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure in the source language.
- Carry out contextual translation, semantic interpretation, and tone analysis as needed.
Requirements
- Strong command of Sherpa and English, both written and spoken.
- Prior experience in transcription, translation, or language analysis, especially with audio or video material.
- Ability to recognize and express emotional context, speaker intent, and cultural subtleties accurately.
- Exposure to language research, editorial work, or advanced linguistics is a strong advantage.
- Capability to evaluate grammar, tone, and conceptual language use critically.
