Job description
Role overview
As part of the Digital Technologies team, this role focuses on keeping the organisation’s network, infrastructure, and business applications running smoothly and reliably. The position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the service desk function while working independently to deliver strong technical support.
Key duties
- Handle day-to-day service requests and incidents allocated to the ICT Service Desk, working within agreed service levels and ITIL-based ticketing processes in Jira.
- Provide in-person ICT assistance to employees and consistently demonstrate the values of the ECQ and the Queensland Government in every interaction.
- Support user environments and the technology tools that help staff work effectively.
- Manage endpoint devices through Intune.
- Support Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments.
- Work with Office 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams meeting rooms, and OneDrive.
- Apply practical administration knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server.
- Work with Entra, Active Directory, and Conditional Access.
- Support Azure environments, including IaaS and PaaS services.
- Assist with cloud-related supporting technologies such as firewalls and identity solutions.
- Follow established procedures for routine operational work, election-specific initiatives, and technology rollouts.
- Help create operational policies, practices, and system documentation.
- Participate in technology deployment projects that improve services and support election event activities.
- Contribute to practical, cost-effective technology solutions while working with external vendors and suppliers.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and help introduce new tools and ideas aligned with the Commission’s Digital ICT Strategy.
- Keep your knowledge current on the department’s business operations, ICT environment, and broader technology trends.
