Role overview
This opportunity is for an experienced Service Desk and Desktop Support Officer to join the Information Technology Services team. The position reports to the Service Desk Team Leader and is responsible for providing dependable desktop support across all council branches in line with service level agreements.
Key duties
- Deliver first- and second-level support to internal users through the service desk.
- Record, track, and manage incoming calls in the service desk platform, ensuring responses and resolutions meet the agreed service standards.
- Provide support for remote-site computers, printers, and access solutions across locations such as the Operations Centre, Aquatic Centre, councillor offices, branch libraries, maternal and child health nurses, and community centres.
- Assist with a range of specialist applications used across the council’s business units.
- Set up and maintain the PC fleet, operating systems, printers, network hardware, and mobile devices at all sites.
- Deliver software assistance for desktop tools including Microsoft 365, Outlook, Authority, and CM9.
- Keep the ICT asset register up to date and accurate.
- Maintain the knowledge base and user-facing support documents.
Candidate profile
To be suitable for this role, you should bring a relevant tertiary qualification or diploma, or equivalent hands-on experience in IT support. You will need to show initiative, a commitment to continuous improvement, and strong service desk support capability. An understanding of the FreshService service desk platform is desirable. An ITIL certification is required, and experience supporting Civica Authority and CM9 will be looked upon favourably.

Employment details
This is a permanent full-time role based in Footscray, Melbourne. The position is classified at Band 5 with a salary range of $83,279 to $95,282, plus 12% superannuation and a monthly accrued day off.
