Role Overview

This position is for an SEO Specialist at the Senior Executive level based in Gurugram and reporting to the Manager - SEO. The role sits within the Marketing function and focuses on strengthening MakeMyTrip’s search visibility, improving organic traffic, and supporting business growth across key verticals, especially emerging business lines.

About the Function

The Marketing team is tasked with building brand strength, attracting new customers, and increasing engagement across channels. Using a mix of creative thinking and data-led execution, the team runs campaigns designed to deliver measurable outcomes. Within Performance Marketing, the focus is on customer acquisition and growth for business areas such as Ground Transport, Holidays, Forex, and Gift Cards. SEO plays an important role in improving rankings, growing organic visits, and contributing to revenue outcomes.

What the Role Involves

  • Own on-page and off-page SEO work for assigned business lines, including site structure, content improvements, internal linking, and other ranking signals.
  • Work with engineering teams to roll out SEO recommendations during new feature launches and code changes, while overseeing webmaster tools, notifications, and site health.
  • Carry out continuous keyword research and expansion, along with link-building programs and traffic acquisition initiatives to increase organic search growth.
  • Partner with content teams to develop search-friendly content and use funnel-focused approaches that improve user journeys, engagement, and conversions.
  • Set, track, and report on SEO and traffic KPIs; build analytics frameworks and create automation to scale growth across large keyword sets.
  • Study competitors, spot new opportunities, and keep up with SEO best practices, search algorithm changes, and industry updates.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, writers, and other stakeholders to implement, measure, and scale SEO initiatives aligned with business goals.

Experience and Skills Expected

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a similar field.
  • 2 to 4 years of practical SEO experience, with a record of driving meaningful organic growth in large-scale businesses.
  • Experience working on e-commerce platforms and high-traffic websites.
  • Strong understanding of ranking factors, optimization methods, algorithm updates, and technical SEO practices.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Google Analytics, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Adobe Omniture, and similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical ability to read data, identify patterns, develop insights, and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, especially as they affect search performance.
  • Good understanding of SEO for both web and mobile experiences.
  • Advanced ability in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for analysis, reporting, forecasting, and presentations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across functions and influence others.

Key Success Factors

Success in this role depends on strong reporting and analytical thinking, solid command over Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to explain SEO strategy clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Reporting line: Manager - SEO. Location: Gurugram, Haryana, India. This is a full-time onsite position.
