Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer with 6+ years of experience to lead frontend application architecture and development for our Bangalore office. The role involves building performant, accessible, and visually refined applications using React and Next.js, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless user experiences including real-time and AI-enhanced interfaces, and setting the direction for frontend technologies. This position also encourages the use of AI coding tools to accelerate development.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend developers to design, develop, and deploy high-quality frontend applications.
• Lead the architectural design and technical decisions for React and Next.js platforms.
• Partner with designers to deliver pixel-perfect, accessible user interfaces and maintain interaction quality.
• Develop and maintain reusable UI component libraries and contribute to shared design systems.
• Create complex interactive UI elements such as streaming AI responses, chat interfaces, live dashboards, employing WebSockets or Server-Sent Events.
• Integrate frontend with backend RESTful and streaming APIs, coordinating API contracts with backend teams.
• Implement secure frontend authentication including JWT token management and protection against XSS, CSRF, CORS, and CSP threats.
• Optimize frontend application performance through techniques like code splitting, lazy loading, caching, and Core Web Vitals improvements.
• Produce clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code using unit, integration, and end-to-end testing approaches.
• Engage in code reviews, promote best practices, and elevate overall code quality.
• Champion the adoption and effective use of AI coding assistants to speed up the development process.
• Mentor junior frontend engineers and manage quality assurance workflows including error tracking and feature flagging.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent fields.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in delivering production-grade frontend systems, preferably in startups or product companies.
• Expert-level proficiency in React including hooks, context API, performance optimization and concurrent features.
• Strong experience with Next.js features: App Router, server components, SSR, SSG, ISR, middleware, and routing strategies.
• Advanced TypeScript skills with rigorous type discipline in large projects.
• High competency in CSS, including CSS Grid, Flexbox layouts, Tailwind or CSS-in-JS, responsive design, and adherence to WCAG accessibility standards.
• Proven ability to work closely with designers for pixel-perfect UI delivery.
• Experience with real-time data handling using WebSockets and Server-Sent Events.
• In-depth knowledge of frontend authentication security using JWT, including access/refresh token management and browser security practices.
• Strong familiarity with frontend testing frameworks and methodologies including Jest, Vitest, React Testing Library, Playwright, and Cypress.
• Solid foundation in computer science concepts such as data structures, algorithms, complexity, and object-oriented design principles.
• Good software engineering practices including version control (Git), continuous integration/deployment, and collaborative code reviews.
• Hands-on use of AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot in professional projects.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, product awareness, and leadership aptitude to mentor engineers.

Additional Preferred Skills

• Basic backend development knowledge using Python and FastAPI with an understanding of RESTful asynchronous patterns.
• Familiarity with databases, SQL querying, and schema design impact on frontend performance.
• Ability to read and troubleshoot backend code to improve integration capabilities.
• Experience with API design conventions including pagination, error handling, and data modeling.
• Skills deploying frontend applications on AWS services such as CloudFront, S3, Amplify, or ECS.
• Experience maintaining shared design systems used across products.
• Knowledge of event-driven frontend patterns such as real-time UI updates and optimistic UI approaches.
• Deeper understanding of advanced authentication methods like OAuth2/OIDC, refresh token rotation, and session security hardening.
• Involvement in open-source projects, technical writing, or speaking engagements is a plus.
