Role overview

Mulpha’s Bimbadgen precinct in the Hunter Valley brings together several hospitality and wine experiences, including acclaimed dining, cellar door offerings, large events such as A Day on the Green, vineyard accommodation, a dedicated wedding venue at Bimbadgen Palmers Lane, and the more intimate Emma’s Cottage Vineyard with accommodation, a gift shop, cellar door, and event space. This position is responsible for end-to-end finance across the operation, with a strong focus on both reporting and day-to-day business support.

The role works closely with the General Manager, Head Winemaker, and broader leadership team to improve performance, strengthen cost control, and support commercial decisions.

Key duties

  • Deliver monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
  • Own the budgeting, forecasting, and variance review process.
  • Handle inventory accounting and vintage costing for bulk wine and finished stock.
  • Lead month-end close activities, reconciliations, and compliance-related tasks.
  • Support pricing, margin analysis, and operational performance reporting in partnership with the operations team.
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Supervise and develop a team of three accounting support employees.
  • Improve processes and work across departments to increase efficiency and strengthen business partnering.

Background and skills

The ideal candidate is CA or CPA qualified and has at least five years of accounting or finance experience. Exposure to the wine, hotel, or hospitality sector is preferred, and knowledge of liquor wholesale and export would be an advantage. Strong Excel capability and confidence with finance systems are important, along with a practical, detail-focused, and commercially minded approach. A willingness to learn operational processes is also valued.
