About the Role
The Vox Media Podcast Network is looking for an experienced Senior Video Producer to lead multiplatform video production efforts across a varied and prominent selection of podcasts. This role involves significant creative input, including collaborating with show teams to launch new video-centric programs and assisting production for existing shows when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with podcast teams network-wide to help conceptualize and launch new video podcasts, providing creative advice and hands-on production support.
- Edit and create long-format video episodes tailored for platforms such as YouTube, ensuring dynamic pacing, engaging visuals, and high production values across remote, studio, and hybrid setups.
- Produce platform-specific short video content optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts by transforming memorable podcast moments into captivating video narratives.
- Develop and apply scalable visual components including motion graphics, subtitles, and lower-thirds that match each program’s style and platform audience.
- Oversee and mentor freelance editors and designers by delegating projects, delivering constructive feedback, and maintaining consistent brand standards and quality.
- Write and refine scripts collaboratively with hosts and production teams as needed.
- Work cross-departmentally with editorial, social media, and audience growth teams to align productions with performance targets and platform best practices.
- Keep abreast of trends and innovations in video and social media landscapes, providing strategic insights to help shows expand audience reach and differentiate from competitors.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 6 to 8+ years in digital video production, especially crafting editorial or creator-focused content for social and streaming channels.
- Proven ability producing both extended and short video pieces, particularly for talk or interview-style content.
- Expertise in Adobe Premiere for video editing; familiarity with After Effects or comparable tools for motion graphics is advantageous.
- Experience managing freelance personnel or external vendors, with an aptitude for providing clear creative direction and ensuring punctual, quality outcomes.
- Strong editorial judgment and scriptwriting skills, adept at managing pacing, tone, and narrative flow for host-led shows.
- A collaborative and advisory approach, comfortable integrating with existing teams to enhance visual storytelling.
- Comprehensive knowledge of video platform ecosystems such as YouTube, TikTok, and Reels, including understanding user engagement and growth drivers.
Additional Information
The position is based in New York but works remotely. This is a permanent full-time role, eligible for comprehensive benefits, and part of the Vox Media Union represented by the Writers Guild of America, East. Salary ranges between $90,000 and $106,000 USD annually, with the final offer depending on experience and qualifications.
