Job description
Position Summary
A growing commercial banking platform is looking to add a Senior Vice President in a brand-new leadership role. The person in this position will oversee important client relationships, lead resolution of complicated issues, and help ensure smooth delivery across some of the bank’s largest and most demanding commercial accounts.
Reporting into the Commercial Banking team, this leader will function as a senior counterpart to Operations leadership and will own day-to-day client relationships for a select group of customers. The role involves coordinating internal teams and guiding operational matters through to closure.
As the organization expands its commercial lending and deposit business, this position will be central to building a scalable operating approach that supports excellent client service, strong operational control, and solid risk awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main day-to-day relationship lead for a portfolio of complex commercial and institutional banking clients.
- Take ownership of client service, operational, and execution issues from first identification through final resolution.
- Work closely with Commercial Banking, Treasury Management, Operations, Credit, Compliance, Risk, Finance, and other teams to resolve client matters efficiently.
- Track open issues, prioritize work, and make sure deadlines, commitments, and deliverables are completed on time.
- Use sound judgment to decide when a matter should be escalated and coordinate the right executive involvement.
- Collaborate with clients to resolve service concerns while preserving strong relationships and a responsive service experience.
- Handle operational follow-up for complex commercial banking relationships, including funding issues, reserve requirements, operational exceptions, and other client-specific matters.
- Support institutional client relationships that require additional oversight or are going through strategic changes.
- Build accountability across internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent execution and an excellent client experience.
- Look for ways to improve processes, increase operational consistency, and help support the bank’s continued growth.
Qualifications
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in commercial banking, treasury management, commercial operations, relationship management, or a related financial services field.
- Proven background managing complex commercial or institutional client relationships.
- Strong knowledge of commercial banking products, loan servicing, treasury management, deposits, and banking operations.
- Ability to work across a complex organization and bring cross-functional teams together to solve client issues.
- Strong judgment with the ability to balance client service, operational execution, and risk management.
- Excellent organization skills, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, relationship management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Executive presence and confidence when interacting with senior leaders and sophisticated commercial clients.
