Job description
About the Company
C.H.BECK is a long-established family business with more than 250 years of history. The media group is known for reliability, innovation, and high quality, and it combines deep expertise with modern technology. Its portfolio includes legal and humanities publications, digital platforms, online databases, and AI-supported solutions for the legal world of the future.
Role Overview
The company is looking for an experienced UX designer with a strong focus on user research to start immediately. The role sits in a complex B2B environment and combines research, interaction design, visual design, and close collaboration with product and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently plan and carry out research activities and help shape the research process, including interviews, usability testing, and observations in real usage settings.
- Identify and analyse complex user problems before design solutions are created.
- Design well-considered interactions for demanding B2B products, covering areas such as search, filtering, navigation, and AI-assisted workflows.
- Work closely with development teams, understand technical implementation, and actively contribute to the design-to-code process.
- Create and maintain UI components and help build and evolve a shared design system.
- Make sound quality judgments, including under time pressure, while balancing user needs and product goals.
- Collaborate with UX leads, product owners, and subject matter experts, while naturally using AI-enabled workflows in day-to-day work.
Profile and Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in UX/UI design, ideally within complex B2B or enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with user research and the ability to conduct research independently rather than only review findings.
- A structured, method-driven approach such as Design Thinking or Human-Centred Design.
- Solid technical understanding, including how frontend development works and where implementation limits lie.
- Strong visual design ability with the skill to not only shape concepts but also execute them carefully and cleanly.
- Experience creating or maintaining design systems and component libraries.
- Confident use of Figma, plus experience in prototyping and interaction design.
- Ability to think through problems precisely and communicate clearly with internal teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and spoken German; English is an advantage.
What the Employer Offers
- A role at a leading media company located in the heart of Schwabing.
- Individual opportunities for professional and personal development.
- Health and sports offerings in cooperation with EGYM.
- Flexible working arrangements with a 37.5-hour full-time week, flexitime, and home office options.
- Social activities such as after-work beer, an internal employee trade fair, and summer and winter celebrations.
- Additional benefits including travel and lunch subsidies, parking spaces with EV charging infrastructure, and book discounts.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, on-site position for experienced professionals. The role begins immediately.
