Job description

Role overview

We are seeking a Senior Treasury Officer with strong experience in treasury operations for an oil and gas environment. The role centers on managing liquidity, funding, foreign exchange, hedging, debt administration, banking relationships, and treasury controls across multiple entities.

Experience and background

The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline. Professional treasury certification such as CertT, AMCT, or MCT from ACT is especially valued.

You should bring 5–7 years of experience in treasury, cash management, or financial risk roles. Prior work in oil and gas, energy, or petrochemicals is strongly preferred. Practical exposure to cash planning, liquidity control, bank relationship management, treasury operations, and multi-currency FX activity is required. Experience with commodity hedging or derivatives in an energy setting will be considered a major plus. Background in debt administration, including loan drawdowns, repayments, covenant tracking, and lender reporting, is also important. Familiarity with reserves-based lending or project finance structures is an advantage. Experience with a treasury management system is preferred. GCC or MENA exposure is beneficial, and knowledge of Qatar Central Bank rules and the local banking landscape is a plus.

Industry and technical knowledge

This role requires a sound understanding of how oil and gas cash flows behave, including production-linked receipts, lifting cost cycles, heavy CAPEX phases, and royalty or tax obligations. Strong knowledge of FX risk management tools such as natural hedging, forwards, FX swaps, and cross-currency products is needed. Familiarity with commodity hedging instruments like crude futures, swaps, options, and collar structures is also important.

Knowledge of IFRS 9, especially financial instruments, hedge accounting, and fair value measurement, is expected. You should also understand intercompany funding mechanisms such as cash pooling and intra-group lending across multi-entity businesses. Awareness of petroleum-related fiscal payments, including royalties, petroleum income tax, and government profit oil, is necessary for timing treasury actions correctly. Understanding facility agreements, security documentation, covenant compliance, and ISDA master agreements is an added advantage.

Core duties

In this position, you will manage day-to-day cash and liquidity across company bank accounts and entities. You will also prepare short- and medium-term cash forecasts based on production revenue expectations and CAPEX plans.

Your work will include executing FX transactions, managing currency exposure, and keeping hedging positions aligned with company policy. You will oversee commodity hedging activity, including execution, settlement, and mark-to-market reporting.

Another key area is debt administration: coordinating drawdowns, repayments, interest servicing, and covenant compliance certificates. You will also maintain bank relationships, negotiate fees, credit facilities, and trade finance arrangements, and support intercompany funding, cash pooling, and intra-group loan documentation.

Additional responsibilities include ensuring timely treasury-related payments such as royalties, petroleum taxes, and NOC obligations; preparing management reporting such as liquidity dashboards, hedging effectiveness reports, FX exposure summaries, and debt maturity profiles; maintaining treasury policies and controls; supporting financing and refinancing work with the Finance Director; and coordinating with external auditors on IFRS 9 hedge accounting and financial instrument disclosures.

Key skills required

This role calls for advanced treasury expertise, strong analytical ability, accurate reconciliations, and effective communication with banks, lenders, and senior stakeholders. You should be comfortable working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, and maintaining strict financial discipline and integrity.
