Role overview
This position is for a seasoned Threat Intelligence Analyst who can turn large volumes of data into clear, actionable intelligence. The role involves deep research, investigation, and analysis, along with the preparation of analytical documents that surface findings, highlight hypotheses, identify intelligence gaps, and recommend next steps. You will also review weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports to support mission-related discussions, while helping improve the Threat Intelligence Center through better processes, stronger tooling, and ongoing innovation.
Core responsibilities
- Gather, examine, and share threat intelligence drawn from a wide range of sources across the intelligence spectrum.
- Own and maintain threat intelligence platforms, and evaluate feed sources to ensure they remain effective.
- Create well-structured intelligence outputs such as reports, assessments, briefings, recommendations, and analytical findings.
- Design, refine, and streamline processes that strengthen the overall cyber threat intelligence capability.
- Build and validate templates used for intelligence work.
- Review and validate TIP workflows and procedures, and help document them where needed.
- Help define intelligence requirements across teams and business areas as priorities, structures, and technologies change.
- Distribute intelligence outputs including alerts, reports, and briefings to relevant stakeholders.
- Support situational awareness efforts by adding business context to active and emerging threats.
- Perform intelligence assessments to understand attack characteristics, attribution, threat actor motivation, intent, and capability.
- Continuously improve the Threat Intelligence Center, including its processes, tools, and overall capabilities.
Required qualifications and experience
- Strong analytical and monitoring ability, with the stamina to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment and collaborate well with a team.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly with key stakeholders.
- Strong interest in security, with solid understanding of adversary intent, capability, motivation, and common attacker methods.
- Good command of the intelligence lifecycle and how it is applied in practice.
- Hands-on familiarity with open-source intelligence tools and techniques.
- Strong background in intelligence collection, production, analysis, analytical writing, argument mapping, and structured analytical methods.
- Exposure to critical thinking, cyber intelligence, and cyber counterintelligence training.
- Good knowledge of threat intelligence platforms.
- Ability to defend analytical conclusions even when challenged by differing viewpoints.
- Strong understanding of the cyber threat landscape.
- Formal training in intelligence analysis or practical experience applying intelligence methods.
- Comfort working collaboratively in a fast-moving, changing environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, plus strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and deliver accurate analysis while balancing speed, detail, and thoroughness.
- Deep understanding of cyberattack vectors, detection approaches, malware analysis, cybercrime groups, and attacker methodologies.
- Experience in large-scale security operations, especially within large enterprises, military environments, or government organizations.
- Experience using threat intelligence analytics tools.
- Strong grasp of threat models such as the security kill chain and the diamond model.
- 4+ years of experience as a cyber threat analyst, threat researcher, or intelligence analyst.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- CISSP, GIAC, or a comparable information security / cyber threat intelligence certification is preferred.
