Job description
About the Company
Halter is working to help farmers and graziers run more productive and environmentally responsible operations. Its technology removes many of the time-heavy parts of traditional farming and is helping reshape grazing practices in a major way. The company is backed by leading investors and is building for long-term impact.
Role Overview
This position sits within the People & Performance function and focuses on hiring for Halter’s hardware engineering teams. You will lead recruitment for specialists who create the physical product, including embedded, PCB, mechanical, RF, firmware, and manufacturing talent. The role reports to the Talent Lead and combines hands-on hiring with broader talent strategy as the company grows.
Key Responsibilities
You will manage end-to-end hiring across hardware roles, work with engineering leaders to define role requirements, build talent pipelines across multiple disciplines and regions, and support technical assessments and offer management. The role also includes improving recruitment processes, strengthening the employer value proposition for hardware audiences, coaching hiring managers, supporting diversity and inclusion efforts, representing the company at events and forums, and monitoring hiring metrics to refine recruitment performance.
Candidate Profile
Halter is looking for someone with substantial talent acquisition experience and a strong background in hardware hiring. You should be confident sourcing and closing hard-to-find engineering talent, comfortable discussing hardware tools and trade-offs, and capable of partnering with both senior leaders and hiring teams. The role also calls for strong reporting ability, awareness of employment and immigration compliance in New Zealand and preferably Australia, and a proactive, adaptable mindset.
Application Note
The company encourages people to apply even if they do not meet every single requirement. Candidates are asked to submit a cover letter explaining their interest in the role and in working at Halter, along with a CV.
Why People Enjoy Working Here
- The work has clear real-world impact, helping improve farmers’ livelihoods, time with family, and sustainability outcomes.
- The team is described as highly capable, kind, and driven, with a culture that values solving difficult problems.
- Employees are given autonomy and opportunities to learn, including access to a $1,000 personal growth fund.
- The environment is fast-moving and challenging, with ambitious goals and a strong sense of shared purpose.
Additional Information
The company promotes a diverse and inclusive workplace and encourages applicants from under-represented groups to apply even if they do not meet all criteria. The role is based in Auckland, New Zealand, and is a full-time onsite position.
