About the Role
Located in Feilding, Manawatū, Ratanui is a diversified farming operation focusing on breeding and finishing pigs, alongside lamb, beef finishing and cropping. The farm prides itself on high performance, consistently surpassing output goals through strategic planning, superior animal welfare, and strong teamwork.
Role Overview
We are inviting applications for an experienced Senior Piggery Stockperson to join our breeding unit, responsible for managing approximately 800 sows and their piglets. This permanent, full-time role requires dedication to animal health and welfare within an engaged team environment.
Primary Duties
- Support daily oversight and management of sows, including mating, farrowing, feeding, pig health monitoring, and maintaining cleanliness of facilities.
- Collaborate within a successful and motivated team, fulfilling a minimum 40 hours per week schedule, which includes some weekends and occasional periods of sole charge responsibility.
- Uphold excellent standards in animal welfare, environmental management, and proactive health and safety practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a New Zealand Qualification Framework Level 4 certification in Pork Industry or a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience or formal qualifications in operating machinery are also desirable.
- A minimum of three years of relevant industry experience may be considered as a substitute for formal qualifications.
