Overview
We are seeking a Senior Specialist in Social Media to join Liverpool Football Club's dynamic team. This position is part of the Social team under the broader Creative Content division, focusing on the development and delivery of engaging content across LFC’s digital channels. Responsibilities include managing organic, branded, sponsored, marketing, and communications posts designed to grow follower engagement and boost traffic to our owned platforms.
Key Duties
- Develop social-first content to improve engagement, reach, community growth, and brand loyalty.
- Collaborate with wider teams to define and elevate the Club’s international social presence by innovating content formats and strategies.
- Work alongside internal departments and external partners such as Content, Graphics, Commercial, and Marketing to create and execute branded and paid social campaigns.
- Stay alert to social trends, cultural events, and new platform opportunities relevant to the Club’s audience.
- Monitor competitors and industry developments to ensure LFC remains a leader in social media innovation.
- Provide extensive matchday social media coverage for club matches at Anfield and away, including fixtures across the Premier League, Champions League, WSL, and Academy competitions.
- Use analytics tools to track performance, drawing insights to optimize content strategies collaboratively.
- Ensure all social media content aligns with brand guidelines, platform standards, and partner agreements.
Candidate Profile
- Comprehensive knowledge of Liverpool FC's teams and staff across men’s, women’s, and youth squads.
- Strong understanding of football and elite sports, capable of translating insights into targeted content supporting measurable objectives.
- Experience in the sports or elite sports sector.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate within multifunctional media and marketing teams for cross-channel campaigns.
- Advanced expertise with major social platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X), TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, and WhatsApp.
- Ability to make quick decisions in real-time scenarios under pressure.
- Excellent editorial skills and meticulous attention to detail in content publishing.
Technical Skills
- Strong team collaboration skills within cross-departmental environments.
- Knowledge of social media management tools for scheduling, approval processes, publishing, tagging, and reporting.
- Experience creating video and graphic content using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere) and platforms like Tellyo, Grabyo, and Opta Match Graphics.
- Capability to analyze content performance and apply insights to improve future outputs.
Employment Details & Benefits
This is a permanent full-time role requiring 35 hours per week, typically five days within a seven-day cycle. Flexibility is essential to cover matches and events, primarily based at the Chapel Street Office in Liverpool.
