Role overview
This position is for a Senior SHES Manager in Qatar, responsible for guiding safety, health, environment and security leadership across major construction packages. The role sits within the health and safety function and is suited to someone with deep international EPC experience in large-scale oil and gas construction.
Compensation and package
The offered pay is USD 12,000 to 14,000, along with flights and company-provided accommodation.
Key responsibilities
You will shape and maintain SHES management systems, support a strong safety culture, and drive continuous improvement across large construction packages such as LNG plants, refineries, or petrochemical facilities. The role also involves mentoring large teams within a joint venture environment, ensuring resources are planned and allocated effectively, and guiding the full rollout of project SHES programs.
In addition, you will oversee SHES compliance, performance, and site-level systems; prepare and refresh project-specific SHES plans and related documents; and help embed the company’s safety culture to meet the expectations of JV sponsors and the client throughout all phases of the project.
Other duties include using influencing, networking, negotiation, and technical expertise to direct SHES standards, promoting observation and intervention initiatives, supporting safety leadership and culture-building programs, coordinating with stakeholders such as project managers, directors, client representatives, partner SHES managers, and subcontractors, and assisting site SHES managers with SIMOPS, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up SHES arrangements when needed.
Experience and suitability
The preferred candidate should bring at least 15 years of international EPC experience, with a strong background in major mechanical construction work in the oil and gas sector. A demonstrated history of leading safety programs and working effectively with joint venture partners and clients is essential.
Qualifications
A relevant degree is required, together with internationally recognized SHES credentials such as ISO 45001 and/or ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification. Strong knowledge of mechanical construction methods is also expected.
