Overview

The Senior Service Engineer will undertake complex and challenging technical service assignments globally, including on-site responsibilities. This role involves coordinating a team of field service engineers and technicians, ensuring superior quality in maintenance, repair, overhaul, and inspection of advanced machinery and auxiliary systems, both in workshops and various field environments including onshore and offshore locations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute maintenance, repairs, and major overhauls of engines, turbochargers, and associated systems following established procedures and approved work documentation.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure top-quality service; oversee timelines, ensure adherence to quality standards, and manage lead times efficiently.
  • Maintain strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, including Lockout-Tagout and proper personal protective equipment (PPE) use.
  • Plan service operations meticulously, including allocation of manpower, tools, spare parts, materials, and scheduling tasks.
  • Interpret technical drawings, manuals, and reports accurately to guide work execution.
  • Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to service technicians, engineers, and external collaborators during on-site assignments.
  • Offer customer support with expert technical knowledge during commissioning, preventive maintenance advisory, and assembly/disassembly coordination.
  • Identify and diagnose equipment malfunctions, manage warranty claims, and collaborate with headquarters to define corrective and preventative measures.
  • Prepare detailed daily and completion reports, analyze maintenance data, and recommend technical enhancements.
  • Coordinate seamlessly with internal departments, travel to various job sites as necessary, and facilitate efficient service delivery.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • At least 8 years of pertinent experience, ideally within heavy machinery, maritime, or power plant industries.
  • Comprehensive understanding of technical operations combined with commercial business insight.
  • Proficiency in work preparation, project management, and leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
  • Competence in preparing technical documentation and reports utilizing Microsoft Office tools.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Familiarity with engine components and auxiliary systems such as separators, coolers, and filters.
  • Experience working with third-party service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Management training background.
  • Knowledge of process measurement technologies.
