Job description
Job Summary
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will oversee the commercial, contractual, and cost control elements of civil and building construction projects, guiding them from project start through to final account. The position is focused on keeping costs under control, ensuring payments are processed on time, maintaining contract compliance, and supporting overall project profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial and contractual administration for the allocated projects.
- Build and track project budgets, cash flow forecasts, cost reports, and profitability projections.
- Prepare and submit client invoices, interim valuations, and final account documentation.
- Handle subcontract agreements, payment certifications, and compliance with contract terms.
- Manage variations, claims, change orders, and related contractual communications.
- Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender documents, and support procurement-related work.
- Follow project progress and work with site and technical teams to produce accurate cost information.
- Prepare Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), cost-to-complete reports, and monthly commercial updates.
- Make sure all project changes are recorded, approved, and recovered commercially.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to settle commercial issues.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures, contractual obligations, and relevant industry practices.
Qualifications & Experience
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a closely related field is required. A professional qualification in Quantity Surveying is an advantage. The role calls for at least 8 years of experience in Quantity Surveying within civil and building construction projects, and GCC experience will be considered a plus.
Skills & Knowledge
The position requires strong commercial and cost management capability, along with solid contract administration skills. The candidate should be experienced in BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, tendering, and subcontract management. A good understanding of FIDIC contracts and standard measurement methods is important. Proficiency in CCS Candy, AutoCAD, MS Office, and ERP platforms, with SAP preferred, is also expected. Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and reporting abilities are essential.
