Job description
Role Overview
This position is for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor based in Doha, Qatar, with a strong background in contract and commercial management across construction and infrastructure work. The role focuses on pre-contract commercial support, tender preparation, risk review, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure robust and compliant submissions.
Pre-Contract and Commercial Management
- Examine tender packs, drawings, and technical specifications to spot commercial and contractual exposures early.
- Develop and complete contract documentation, including RFPs, ITTs, addenda, and clarification responses, aligned with company and client requirements.
- Carry out cost estimating, commercial assessment, and review quotations from subcontractors and suppliers for value and competitiveness.
- Evaluate contractual risk and confirm adherence to organizational policies as well as client-side procedures.
- Work closely with engineering, design, finance, and legal teams to make sure all tender inputs are complete and accurate.
- Take part in pre-tender discussions, clarification meetings, and commercial negotiations with clients and consultants.
- Contribute to value engineering efforts aimed at improving cost efficiency and design optimization.
Qualifications and Experience
The role calls for a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a closely related discipline. MMUP certification is considered an advantage. Candidates should bring at least 15 years of experience in contract and commercial management within the construction sector, including a minimum of 5 years on Ashghal infrastructure projects. Practical experience with FIDIC-based contracts, claims, and dispute handling is essential, along with strong negotiation and communication abilities. Familiarity with contract management systems, Microsoft Office, and Qatari construction regulations is also required.
