Role overview
This position is responsible for leading sales and project management for complex special-purpose machinery projects. The role covers the entire journey from concept and quotation preparation through to customer acceptance, with accountability for schedule, cost, and quality performance. You will also guide the project management team and drive reliable execution across global locations.
Key responsibilities
- Own the global development, expansion, and standardization of sales and project management processes.
- Provide both functional and disciplinary leadership to the sales and project management team.
- Plan capacity and allocate resources for project work across global sites, including preparation of make-or-buy decisions.
- Manage multiple projects across the international network and ensure clear visibility on schedule and budget adherence.
- Collaborate across departments as part of an interdisciplinary leadership team.
- Take overall responsibility for the phase leading up to the submission of quotations.
- Ensure targets for time, cost, and quality are met, including escalation handling in critical project situations.
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, and act as the main contact for inquiries regarding new equipment.
- Build up and qualify global sites in project management for special-purpose machinery.
Profile and requirements
- A completed degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or an equivalent background.
- Several years of experience in project management within special-purpose machinery or plant engineering.
- Prior leadership experience is an advantage.
- Strong command of project management methods, including classical, hybrid, and agile approaches.
- Practical experience with ERP and project management systems as well as MS Office.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Confident decision-making and persuasive execution.
- Entrepreneurial thinking with a clear focus on cost awareness.
- A structured, solution-oriented way of working.
- High sense of responsibility.
- Advanced written and spoken English skills.
- Willingness to travel.
