Senior Project Manager - Oil & Gas

Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager in Oil & Gas is accountable for the comprehensive delivery of oil and gas infrastructure and facility projects, spanning from initial concept to commissioning and final handover. This leadership role ensures projects are aligned with organizational goals while meeting cost, schedule, safety, and quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct all stages of project execution including conceptual planning, design, commissioning, and handover of oil and gas projects.
• Oversee construction and development of crude oil processing plants, pipelines, and related infrastructure.
• Establish and manage detailed schedules, budgets, resource allocations, milestones, and overall project expenditures.
• Conduct feasibility analyses, cost estimations, value engineering, and comprehensive technical and financial assessments.
• Lead and coordinate diverse teams across process, mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, and construction disciplines.
• Supervise engineering, procurement, construction contractors, suppliers, contract negotiations, and evaluate contractor performance.
• Ensure projects adhere to environmental, safety, operational, and regulatory standards.
• Manage Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), detailed engineering phases, design reviews, and documentation of technical specifications.
• Perform gate reviews, quality assurance and control checks, testing, commissioning, and other quality oversight tasks.
• Communicate regular project updates and status reports to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
• Handle project closeout activities including final inspections, punch lists, as-built documentation, handover procedures, and compilation of lessons learned.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or a related field.
• At least 10 years experience managing projects within the oil and gas sector.
• Minimum 5 years in a senior project management position.
• Experience managing large-scale projects with budgets exceeding USD 20 million.
• Proven expertise in managing crude oil processing facilities, pipeline infrastructure, or equivalent major projects.
• Hands-on experience managing projects from feasibility through operational startup phases.
• Strong leadership in coordinating multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, construction, and operations.
• Adept in managing contractor relations and overseeing contractor performance in complex project environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of oil and gas operations, petroleum refining, pipeline systems, and downstream processes.
• Well-versed in project controls, scheduling, planning, budget management, and capital project execution methodologies.
• Familiarity with environmental compliance, safety regulations, API, ASME codes, and other industry standards relevant to oil and gas.
• Proficient in project management tools such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
