Role overview

This position is for an experienced Senior Project Manager in the Events Department in Dublin, working in a hybrid setup. The role requires managing several corporate and association conferences simultaneously and partnering closely with the Director of Events. You will take ownership of this business segment within the Events Team, with strong emphasis on budget control and delivery against timelines.

Core duties

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of assigned conferences and events end to end.
  • Act as the main client contact and attend all client meetings.
  • Collaborate with clients to shape the full conference or event concept and experience.
  • Represent the company on site during event operations.
  • Lead and support team members assigned to larger projects as required.
  • Train and brief presenters and hosts so they understand client goals and technical requirements.
  • Handle accommodation, venues, and supplier coordination.
  • Manage online registration and abstract workflows.
  • Coordinate audio-visual requirements and catering.
  • Set up and maintain event websites when needed.
  • Oversee transport, travel, and social programme planning.
  • Manage client project budgets and internal budgets, and report projected revenue and margins to the Events Director.
  • Support sponsorship, funding, and exhibition activity where needed.
  • Attend supplier meetings and, from time to time, client presentations for prospective business.
  • Maintain financial oversight and credit control for events handled by the company.
  • Update and develop projects within the company’s event management platform, including registration and abstract submission tools.
  • Support the Abbey Group’s environmental and responsible tourism initiatives.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by management or a Company Director.
  • Travel internationally when required, in line with the company’s Business Travel Policy.

Requirements

  • Proven substantial experience in a comparable role and/or organisation
  • Ability to work to agreed schedules and deadlines
  • Self-driven, client-focused, and committed to delivering a high standard of service
  • Strong collaboration and team-working skills
  • Solid technical and computer proficiency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prepared to travel, mainly across the UK and Ireland
  • Relevant third-level qualification in Event Management, Tourism, Business, or Languages, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience with conference management software such as EventsAir is beneficial
