Role Overview
The Senior Project Finance Manager will oversee financial management for projects throughout their lifecycle, from business development through to closure. This role involves close collaboration with finance and operational teams, managing financial forecasts, controlling revenues, and supervising Project Finance Analysts. The manager will facilitate improvements in business processes, oversee financial metrics, and ensure compliance with contractual and financial obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage financial aspects of projects from handover to closing, maintaining adherence to contractual and financial guidelines.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and leads to develop forecasts, monitor revenue recognition, and assess forecast versus actual performance.
- Handle month-end financial procedures such as posting revenue journals, accrual accounting, invoicing clients, processing investigator payments, managing labor costs, and overseeing pass-through expenses.
- Track subcontractor expenditures, contractor hours, billing milestones, currency exchange impacts, and overall project profitability to guarantee accurate financial reporting.
- Review project financial health including revenue trends, accounts receivable aging, and billing status, providing variance analyses and actionable insights.
- Identify financial risks, scope modifications, and performance concerns; escalate and assist in corrective actions as necessary.
- Support sponsor inquiries, audits, collections, and financial reporting; participate in regular project review meetings.
- Work cross-functionally with Finance, Project Operations, and external parties to enhance financial methods, reporting accuracy, and project results.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related discipline.
- Proven experience in project finance, financial analysis, or commercial finance, ideally in project-driven or clinical research settings.
- Comprehensive understanding of project financial management including forecasting, revenue recognition, budgeting, accruals, and profitability evaluation.
- Familiarity with project contracts, customer relationship processes, and financial management across project lifecycles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities capable of trend identification, issue resolution, and process enhancement recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder coordination aptitude within cross-functional and matrix teams.
- Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational skills and capable of juggling multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; able to operate autonomously, adapt swiftly to priorities, and deliver quality results.
