Job Summary
The Senior Project Engineer will support the Head of Machinery in managing engineering activities for projects, focusing on the design, development, coordination, implementation, execution, and control of projects. This role ensures alignment with the company's strategic objectives and goals. The position involves providing technical guidance, resolving issues, making decisions, and analyzing the engineering department's portfolio using innovative and analytical methods. The primary focus will be on rotating machinery within the Utilities sector.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversee the engineering and procurement of rotating equipment, including compressors, pumps, turbines, blowers, and gearboxes.
- Review performance curves, vibration analysis, alignment procedures, and reliability data.
- Coordinate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting efforts with vendors and site teams.
- Ensure that spare parts and specialized tools are identified and delivered according to project specifications.
- Assist the Head of Engineering in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure they align with project objectives, EPCC Contract requirements, and project procedures.
- Monitor and report on the progress of engineering deliverables, identifying any deviations and supporting corrective actions.
- Review, verify, and provide comments on technical documentation submitted by the EPCC Contractor, such as datasheets, drawings, specifications, and vendor documents.
- Participate in kick-off meetings with subcontractors to establish alignment on technical scope, quality standards, and schedules.
- Follow up on fabrication progress and assist in resolving Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) or fabrication defects reported by subcontractors.
- Collaborate with the construction team to ensure the correct installation of equipment and systems as per engineering deliverables.
- Track engineering deliverables against the commissioning-driven project schedule and report any deviations.
- Coordinate with the EPCC Contractor and internal teams to ensure timely completion of engineering inputs necessary for commissioning.
- Manage engineering interfaces between internal departments (Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Procurement) and the EPCC Contractor.
- Support the Interface Team in the technical review of spare parts, tie-in readiness, and the resolution of interface-related issues.
- Participate in multidisciplinary reviews like HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, QRA, and 3D model reviews, ensuring all action items are closed out.
- Assist in identifying and tracking engineering-related risks and contribute to the Project Risk Register.
- Maintain comprehensive records of technical reviews, NCR resolutions, inspection outcomes, and interface coordination activities.
- Support audit preparations and participate in lessons learned sessions.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Have at least 10 years of direct and relevant experience in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Industry, or with an EPC company.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of process engineering software design and expertise in all facets of Process Engineering implementation and execution, adhering to International Standards.
- Exhibit strong project management, leadership, and team management capabilities.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Ammonia & Urea Major Projects.
