Role overview
RT.Lane is looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join its Cork, Ireland team and support the delivery of accurate, compliant, and timely payroll operations. This position reports to the Finance Manager and covers end-to-end payroll handling across weekly, 4-weekly, and monthly cycles. The role works closely with Finance, HR, and external payroll partners to ensure employees are paid correctly and payroll processes run smoothly.
What you will do
- Run weekly, 4-weekly, and monthly payroll cycles with accuracy and within deadline.
- Prepare payroll inputs, check their correctness, and share them with external payroll providers for approval and processing.
- Keep payroll records up to date and make sure employee pay and payroll disbursements are processed correctly.
- Serve as a first point of contact for payroll questions, providing professional and clear support.
- Follow statutory rules, tax obligations, SOX controls, and audit requirements in all payroll activities.
- Assist with month-end close work and address audit-related queries promptly.
- Coordinate with Finance, HR, and third-party payroll vendors to keep operations efficient and aligned.
- Manage priorities proactively so payroll deadlines are consistently met.
- Keep current with Irish payroll legislation and regulatory updates.
What we are looking for
- A relevant qualification in Payroll, HR, or Accounting Technician studies is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of payroll experience, ideally across multiple payroll cycles.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, plus Time & Attendance systems.
- Experience dealing with external payroll providers would be beneficial.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with different stakeholders.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal ability.
- Highly organised, self-driven, and able to handle competing priorities and deadlines.
- Professional, discreet, and highly attentive to detail.
