Role Overview

As Senior Payroll Specialist, you will be a key member of the HR team, ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time. You will own payroll operations for Germany and act as a knowledgeable contact for employees and the business on relevant legal and payroll matters.

This position follows a hybrid setup in Berlin, with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. The role is based in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

Key Responsibilities

• Run the monthly payroll cycle for all employees in Germany, including salary processing, benefits, company pension contributions, and all applicable allowances.
• Coordinate tax and social security deductions and ensure they are reported and remitted correctly and punctually.
• Handle long-term illness, maternity leave, parental leave, and adoption cases together with the CHR team, and process holiday entitlements for leavers.
• Maintain and review payroll data to support accuracy and provide useful information to other functions such as Finance.
• Check payroll reports prepared by the external payroll provider to confirm correct handling of hires, exits, master data changes, and absences.
• Support the People Portal ticketing system and respond to payroll-related questions quickly and in line with company values.
• Review the provider’s output reports to ensure instructions were interpreted correctly and processed without errors.

Candidate Profile

You should bring substantial payroll experience in a fast-moving, dynamic environment, along with a proactive communication style and the ability to build effective working relationships across teams. Strong IT affinity, advanced Excel capability, attention to detail, and solid analytical and numerical skills are important. Experience with DATEV payroll software and fluency in both German and English are required.
