Role Overview
The company is hiring a Senior Payroll Specialist in Cork, Ireland to support its finance operations. This role reports to the Finance Manager and is responsible for handling payroll from start to finish across weekly, 4-weekly, and monthly cycles while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and on-time payment of employees.
Key Duties
- Run weekly, 4-weekly, and monthly payroll cycles accurately and within deadlines.
- Compile, check, and send payroll information to external payroll providers for review and approval.
- Keep payroll records correct and ensure employees are paid properly and on schedule.
- Serve as a reliable contact for payroll questions and provide clear, professional guidance.
- Maintain compliance with legal requirements, tax rules, SOX controls, and audit expectations.
- Assist with month-end closing tasks and address audit queries promptly.
- Work in close partnership with Finance, HR, and third-party providers to keep payroll operations running smoothly.
- Handle competing priorities proactively and meet strict payroll timelines.
- Keep current with payroll laws and regulatory updates in Ireland.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has a background in payroll, HR, or accounting technician studies, along with at least 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-cycle payroll setting. Strong Excel skills, familiarity with MS Office, and experience using Time & Attendance systems are important. Exposure to external payroll providers is beneficial. The role also calls for strong teamwork, clear communication, solid organization, discretion, professionalism, and close attention to detail.
